Text Message Consent

    Last revised: August 28, 2026

DappleDoc is the patient-messaging platform used by independent dermatology clinics. When you start a visit with a participating clinic, you may choose to receive text message updates about that visit. This page describes exactly how that choice is presented, what you are agreeing to, and how to stop the messages at any time.

    How you opt in

Consent is collected on the web, during the patient intake flow at your clinic’s DappleDoc address. You enter your mobile number earlier in the flow to create your account. On the final screen, before you submit your visit, you are shown a checkbox that is unchecked by default. You receive text messages only if you check it yourself.

Consent is not required to receive care. If you leave the box unchecked, your visit proceeds normally and we contact you by email instead.

    The consent language

This is the exact text shown next to the checkbox:

Text me updates about my visit at (555) 123-4567. Messages come from [Clinic Name], sent via DappleDoc — appointment, visit-status, and prescription updates only. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help. Your number is not shared with third parties. SMS Terms · Privacy

“(555) 123-4567” is replaced with the mobile number you entered, so you can confirm the number before consenting. “[Clinic Name]” is replaced with the name of the clinic you are starting a visit with.

    What the screen looks like

This is the consent checkbox as it appears on the live intake flow, unedited:

The DappleDoc plan-selection screen. The SMS consent checkbox sits directly below the Continue button, unchecked, with its full disclosure text: the patient's number, the clinic name, sent via DappleDoc, message types, frequency, rates, STOP and HELP instructions, and links to SMS Terms and Privacy.
The checkbox is unchecked by default and sits below an already-active Continue button — consent is never required in order to submit a visit. Select the image to view it full size.

    What messages you will receive

Messages relate to the care you have requested from your clinic. They include: confirmation that your visit was received, notice that a clinician is reviewing it, questions from your clinician, notice that your results are ready, notice that a prescription has been sent to your pharmacy, and account messages such as sign-in codes and password resets.

We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.

    Frequency and cost

Message frequency varies — it depends on how many visits you have and how your clinician responds to them. We do not charge for these messages, but message and data rates may apply depending on your plan with your mobile carrier.

    How to stop messages

Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. You may also reply QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE. We send one confirmation message and then stop. Reply START to resume.

Reply HELP to any message for support information, or email info@dappledoc.com.

You can also turn text messages off at any time in your account settings, without texting anything.

After you unsubscribe, you will still receive sign-in codes and password-reset codes that you request, because those are the only way to reach your own medical record. Everything else stops.

    Your number

Your mobile number and your consent to be texted are not shared with third parties, and are never sold or used for marketing. See the Text Message Privacy Notice for detail, and the Text Message Terms of Use for the full terms.
