DappleDoc Text Message Privacy Notice

This notice describes how Dermsnap LLC, doing business as DappleDoc, handles information related to text messages. It supplements, and does not replace, our Privacy Policy and HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, which govern your information in every other context.

Mobile information is not shared or sold

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties. We do not sell your mobile number.

What we collect

• The mobile number you provide when you create your account.
• A record of your consent: the number, the date and time, the exact wording you were shown, and where in the flow you consented. We keep this so we can demonstrate that messages we sent were authorized.
• Delivery status reported back to us by carriers, so we know whether a message arrived.
• The content of messages you send us in reply, including keywords such as STOP and HELP. Replies may contain health information, and are handled as described below.

How we use it

We use this information only to deliver messages about the care you requested, to respond to you, to honor opt-out requests, and to keep records that show the messages we sent were consented to. We share it with the vendors who carry the messages — our cloud messaging provider and the mobile carriers — and with no one else for marketing purposes.

Health information

Text messages sent through this service relate to dermatology care, and a message you reply with may contain health information about you. That information is protected health information and is handled under our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices. Text messaging is not a secure channel: content may be visible on your lock screen and is stored by your carrier and on your device. We keep message content minimal for this reason — we do not put diagnoses or medication names in text messages, and we link you to your secure account for anything clinical. Do not use text replies to send information you would not want read on an unlocked phone.

Retention

Consent records are retained for as long as we may need to demonstrate that messages were authorized, and opt-out records are retained indefinitely — deleting an opt-out would risk texting someone who told us to stop.

Your choices

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them, or turn text messages off in your account settings. Reply HELP, or email info@dappledoc.com, for support or to ask what we hold about you.
